Missing one of the final three Project Runway SA designers? Kireshen Chetty is back to share some of his favourite cities to visit and his top travel tips
What is your favourite fashion city?
Milan, Italy. It has always been a dream of mine to go there, as it is the fashion and design capital of the world.
What is your favourite local holiday destination?
Cape Town. We get to experience South African culture at its best in such a beautiful city. It’s not one of the seven wonders of nature for nothing.
There are too many, I can’t pinpoint one specifically. I’d love to travel the world!
What colour did you choose for your Lipault 55cm onboard spinner suitcase?
Black and gold – it matched my style sense perfectly. It was also one of the trendier bags and I love black.
What do you always make sure to pack in your Lipault 55cm onboard spinner suitcase when you travel?
Usually my essentials and most valuables: my passport, my cologne, my travel set (toothbrush and moisturiser), a good book, an overnight change of clothing, my laptop and a sketch pad.
What are your top travel tips?
Always be prepared for a flight delay or an overnight stay in an emergency. Pack a mini travel set in preparation for that stay. Also, have all your contact details on hand. Have a camera or phone to take some spur of the moment photos. Keep your favourite playlist and a pair of shades close – shades hide any droopy or sagging bags under your eyes.
What fashion-forward outfit do you like to wear on an international flight?
My floral jumper – jumpers are so on trend right now. They are comfortable and easy to wear. I can pair them with a pair of sneakers or a formal shoe and fedora and I’m good to go.
If you had to design an airline crew’s outfits, what would be on your list?
- Comfort. Those flights are extra tiring, so you need to be comfortable.
- Trendy. You are seen by and interact with so many people on a daily basis, so you’ve got to look presentable and appealing to the travellers. Futurism is big in fashion right now and how appropriate with flying. So, something that brings through this trend in a very sophisticated way.
